Does KPBS Air Public Service Announcements?
KPBS is a public broadcasting station, providing both public radio and public television to San Diego County, and as such, our programming and community outreach activities are a public service to the San Diego area. KPBS does form partnerships/sponsorships with businesses and other organizations that share similar values and missions, and as part of these underwriting agreements, these partners do receive airtime. In addition to KPBS’ partnership/sponsorship opportunities, there are a few other ways to deliver your message to KPBS’ listeners, viewers and members:
General Service Announcements:
The FCC has created special guidelines for non commercial stations –like KPBS – to air spots for non-profit organizations. These spots are sometimes called General Service Announcements and you have to pay for the airtime, although it is at a reduced rate. If you are interested in a General Service Announcement or in becoming a KPBS underwriter, please contact Keith York in KPBS’ Corporate Development department.
Arts Briefs:
Each month on the kpbs.org events calendar, readers will find Arts Briefs on the performing arts, visual arts and museums. Each brief contains information about 6 local events. To find out how you can be a part of these briefs, contact: the San Diego Performing Arts League at www.sandiegoperforms.com, Combined Organizations for the Visual Arts (COVA) at www.sandiego-art.org or the San Diego Museum Council at www.sandiegomuseumcouncil.org.
KPBS Web Event Calendar:
KPBS also has a community events calendar on kpbs.org. You can post your own event information at: http://www.kpbs.org/arts_events/calendar/submit_event
KPBS News and Public Affairs Programs:
If you think your business, organization or event would make an interesting news story, you can also contact the KPBS newsroom or the staff of These Days. To contact the KPBS newsroom, please send an email. The senior producer for These Days on KPBS FM is Natalie Walsh.
