Fresh 'Words' Re-emerge
KPBS Radio to Air Popular Call-In Language Program Nov 16, 2007 Language lovers will have a little extra to the be thankful for over the holiday weekend, when a brand-new season of A Way with Words begins Saturday, November 24 on KPBS 89.5 FM. The show has also launched its own Web site, www.waywordradio.org.
Power Returned To KPBS Transmitter
Oct 26, 2007 On Friday, October 26, a temporary generator was installed at the KPBS transmitter atop Mt. San Miguel. The temporary power source is enabling KPBS FM to return to full power. KPBS HD, V-me and KPBS’ over the air TV signal are back on the air.
ESD Water Show
Oct 10, 2007 SAN DIEGO – KPBS explores the future of San Diego’s water supply – and with it, the future of San Diego itself – in, “Tapped Out: San Diego’s Water Future,” a special television presentation of Envision San Diego. Gloria Penner will host an exploration of the problems and the solutions, Thursday, October 18 at 8 p.m. simulcast on KPBS cable channel 11 and KPBS-HD.
KPBS RESPONDS TO SAN DIEGO CITY ATTORNEY REQUESTS
Sep 27, 2007 As of September 27, KPBS has received three California Public Records Act (PRA) requests from the San Diego City Attorney’s office. As a public broadcasting agency, with a license owned by the California State University Board of Trustees, KPBS is complying with the request.
KPBS Cancels 'Full Focus' and 'A Way with Words'
Aug 01, 2007 San Diego – Effective August 1, production of “Full Focus” on KPBS-TV and “A Way with Words” on KPBS 89.5 FM has been cancelled. KPBS management made the announcement to staff earlier today. The decision resulted in the elimination of 12 KPBS staff positions associated with the two programs.

KPBS Awards
Jul 12, 2007 SAN DIEGO—KPBS was recently recognized for outstanding achievement for both radio and television during two local awards ceremonies. On June 28, the San Diego Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) announced the 2007 Journalism Awards. KPBS was honored with 11 awards—eight in first place, two in second place and one in Best of Show. On top of the awards received, four honorable mentions were awarded to KPBS as well.

Initiative Encourages Local Community to Read Enrique’s Journey Dec 20, 2006 SAN DIEGO - KPBS and the San Diego Public Library are joining together for One Book, One San Diego, a new community-wide reading initiative. The project is launching at a reception at the Museum of Photographic Arts on January 10, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. Don Bartletti, the photographer for Enrique’s Journey will be at the reception to discuss his exhibit of photographs from the book.
A Way with Words Announces New Co-Host
Dec 18, 2006 KPBS’ weekly language program, A Way with Words, is ringing in the New Year with brand new programs and a new co-host. Grant Barrett will join Martha Barnette starting Saturday, January 20. Barrett is a lexicographer and slang expert from New York.
KPBS-FM and NPR Receive $1 Million Gift from Joan and Irwin Jacobs to Strengthen Local Public Radio Journalism
