No One Will Play with Me. Precautions Against Fanatics. Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe. Just the titles of the films Werner Herzog has been associated with entice you with an inkling of what this German filmmaker is like. His latest film, Rescue Dawn (opening July 20 at Landmark's Hillcrest Cinemas) is based on his 1997 documentary Little Dieter Needs to Fly. But it could also be called Werner Herzog Returns to the Jungle.

John Waters: The Sultan of Sleaze Speaks

With the release of the new Hairspray movie, I decided to dig back into the dusty interview vault to pull out some pearls of wisdom from the man known as The Sultan of Sleaze, The Prince of Puke and The King (or possibly Queen) of Schlock. Hairspray

1962... JFK was in The White House... John Glenn was in orbit... Cadillacs had fins... Beehives were in... And girls really knew how to tease! Thats the way John Waters Hairspray announced itself back in 1988. His film has since been adapted to a Broadway musical and this summer Hairspray (opening July 20 throughout San Diego) makes its way back to the big screen.

Lady Chatterley

Lady Chatterley (opening July 20 at Landmarks La Jolla Village) may mark the first time the scandalous D.H. Lawrence novel has been adapted to the screen by a female director.
