KPBS, REI, Cabrillo National Monument Foundation, and the Maritime Museum of San Diego invite you to experience San Diego’s only National Park site and join in a summertime celebration of National Parks Founders Day.
Visit the top of the Old Point Loma Lighthouse Tower – one of only two days this is open during the year; participate in Ranger-guided hikes along the Bayside Trail; learn about Cabrillo the Man and the military history of Point Loma; witness living and oral history displays; and watch a Cannon Salute by the Californian ship – the official tall ship of the State of California and a replica of the 1847 Revenue Cutter C.W. Lawrence. Throughout the day will be screenings of The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, National Park Films, as well as booths and displays from local parks and outdoor organizations.
