The San Diego Blood Bank will be hold a joint Blood and Bone Marrow Drive at the Hall of Champions this Friday from 10am to 4pm.
The Bone Marrow Registry at the Blood Bank is one of the recipients of a national $300,000 grant from Jeff Gordon (of NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports) to help fund a Be the Match Marrow-thon. The overall network goal is to recruit 46,000 new donors by June 22nd. The grant will be used for the cost of processing and testing each individual for the registry.
In addition, the San Diego Blood Bank will be holding its 13th anniversary Padres-Themed Blood Drive at the same time. The first 150 blood donors will be awarded a pair of tickets to a Padres game, a commemorative Padres 40th anniversary jersey, and a Padres beach towel. Donovan’s Steak and Chop House will also serve donors USDA prime filet mignon burritos and Philly cheese steak sandwiches during the drive.
