Saturday, June 13th, meet Ruth Todd Evans, author of the children’s book The Panda Who Would Not Eat, at Quail Botanical Gardens. Evans will be signing copies of her book, which tells the true story of the San Diego Zoo’s Giant Panda Conservation program’s first male panda bear, Shi Shi, who preferred the bamboo grown at Quail Botanical Gardens to the food he was given at the Zoo. For more information on this author or her book, visit http://www.sunbeltbook.com/.
Ruth Todd Evans, M.D., will be helping QBG celebrate the Grand Opening (which will take place from noon to 4 PM) of their new Hamilton Children’s Garden. The Hamilton Children’s Garden, part of a planned 4 ½ acre expansion, will provide children and their families with a place to enjoy the outdoors and explore nature. Made possible by fundraising, donations, and a generous grant from the Leichtag Family Foundation, the Hamilton Children’s Garden will include an Amazing Sundial Garden, an Elephant Foot Tree Forest, Garden Rhythms, an Art’s Garden, and a one-of-a-kind, climbable Tree House, which blends man made materials with living plants.
Saturday, June 13th, come meet a local author and enjoy live music, crafts, and light refreshments. More importantly, embrace this opportunity to spend time with family and experience the wonder of being close to nature at the new Hamilton Children’s Garden! This event is FREE and open to the public.
