Sister Helen Prejean, author of “Dead Man Walking,” and “The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions,” will give the keynote address for the The Big Read literacy campaign, hosted by The University of San Diego and the Black Storytellers of San Diego, Inc.
Sister Prejean will speak on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Shiley Theater on the USD campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Funded the National Endowment for the Arts, The Big Read program helps restore reading to the center of American culture. This year, participants will discuss “A Lesson Before Dying,” by Ernest J. Gaines.
