Volunteers Needed for Target Shooting Area Clean Up on November 7:
The Palomar Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest will host a clean up of the Orosco Ridge Recreational Target Shooting Area on Saturday, November 7. The event will start at 9 a.m. and will end at 5 pm. The Orosco Ridge Target Shooting Area will be CLOSED during clean up.
People interested in volunteering should call Eric McDaniel or Jose Cervantes of the Palomar Ranger District at (760) 788-0250, ext. 3344.
The event will be held to clean up all materials that have been left on the site by target shooters or by others who have used the area for illegal dumping.
The shooting area encompasses approximately 500 acres along Orosco Ridge Road (FS Road 12S03) north of Ramona. Although the shooting area will be closed for the clean up, it is typically open except when fire danger or other emergency situations necessitate closure to protect public safety.
If you plan to use the shooting area, please call the Palomar Ranger District at (760) 788-0250 or visit the Cleveland National Forest website to verify that the shooting range is open.
National forest visitors can also check road access, allowable recreational activities, and what restrictions are in place by visiting the Cleveland National Forest website and clicking on “current conditions” or by calling the ranger district office at the number listed above.
