His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco will be awarded the second Roger Revelle Prize from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego for his efforts promote scientific research and protection of the environment on a global scale. The Roger Revelle Prize is named for the UC San Diego founder and former Scripps director who was a world-renowned scientist and is considered one of the true pioneers of climate change research.
As the recipient of the Roger Revelle Prize, Prince Albert will present an afternoon lecture focusing on his global scientific expeditions and experiences related to the science of climate change in the oceans and on land. In the evening, Scripps Institution of Oceanography will host a special reception and dinner gala in Prince Albert’s honor. Registration is now open. Individual tickets for the events start at $500. Underwriting opportunities are available and range from $10,000-$100,000.
Proceeds from the Roger Revelle Prize events support the Roger Revelle Leadership Fund at Scripps to help recruit and retain the most outstanding students, faculty and researchers to the institution – an objective that was always paramount to Roger Revelle when he was Scripps director.
