Held on the first Wednesday of each month, this ongoing series brings together community leaders of various backgrounds to examine current scientific issues from diverse perspectives. Bring your own questions and join in the discussion!

On Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010 come explore "Ethical Choices for Innovators," with a presentation by Dr. David Fogel, the co-founder and chairman of Natural Selection, Inc., the world’s leading company in the bio-inspired computing field.

The choices and routes to those solutions have sometimes involved ethical dilemmas. Developers of new technologies often grapple with quandaries regarding finances, regulation, licensing, and marketing.

Dr. Fogel will begin with a brief overview of evolutionary computing before addressing specific cases that illustrate issues of principle, and then he will engage the audience in a discussion of an engineeringethical dilemma he is facing currently.
