Conversations on Beauty

Writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote that beauty can change the world. Does that concept still hold currency? This question is at the heart of “Conversations on Beauty” a set of small group discussions among people who examine the concept from different perspectives.

The question is how can beauty be used as a conduit for dialogue and understanding?

The Ilan-Lael Foundation and the San Diego Museum of Art invite you to join us as we examine the meaning of beauty as it pertains to International, Intercultural, and Interpersonal Relations.

Think of the New York Philharmonic’s performance to a North Korean audience in 2008. Or James Hubbell’s Pacific Rim Parks that promote peace and understanding through the built environment.

San Diego has many examples of cultural exchanges that bridge communities and people within the region. We seek to identify how they make a difference in our highly interdependent global society.

Date & Time: June 22, 5 p.m to 7 p.m.
Location: San Diego Museum of Art, 1450 El Prado (Balboa Park), San Diego, California.
