Lux Art Institute, the first LEED-certified art museum in San Diego County, will host its monthly Lux@Night – a free evening of art, wine, live music and merriment – on Wednesday, March 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the last free opportunity to see Iva’s Gueorguieva’s exhibit of large-scale abstract paintings on its closing night. The 8 ft x 12 ft work, “Noogal,” that she created during her residency will also be on view.

For the upcoming Lux@Night, Lux is also proud to present blues guitarist Ben Powell, in a special, live, in-studio performance.

Additionally, PRP Wine International will be offering a tasting of two white wine varietals to guests in the artist residence, which will be open for viewing and also houses another large-scale painting by Iva Gueorguieva, titled “The Gasoline, The Sunlight.”

SPECIMEN, the store project at Lux curated by art dealer Mark Quint and artist Adam Belt, will be open for business during the event and is running a special St. Patrick’s Day deal: buy any item with the color green in it and receive a free admission ticket to the Lux studio for the remainder of the 2009/2010 Season. Guests will be able to browse through a myriad of unique items devoted to the exploration of science, art, nature and adventure and pick up one-of-a-kind gifts and curiosities

Lux@Night is sponsored by Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and the County of San Diego.

Amidst Lux’s five-acre site that overlooks the San Elijo Lagoon and an expansive wildlife preserve that stretches to the Pacific Ocean, enjoy a glass of wine or Stone beer, conversation, and the free chance to view Bulgarian-born Iva Gueorguieva’s riotously-hued canvases.

Lux@Night is a 21 and over event, and there is a $5 suggested donation.

Lux Art Institute is located at 1550 S. El Camino Real in Encinitas, Calif. Parking is available in the Sanderling-Waldorf School parking lot and in posted parking zones along El Camino Real.
