Center for Community Solutions, a non-profit agency that offers a complete range of sexual assault and domestic violence prevention and intervention services, is hosting its sixth annual Chef Showdown 2010—Taking a Stand against Domestic Violence, on Thursday, October 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NTC Promenade, Point Loma at Legacy Plaza.

The fundraiser, which honors Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will feature a lively culinary competition involving chefs from San Diego’s top restaurants, including Busalacchi’s, ChileCo., Cosmopolitan, Cucina Urbana, El Vitral Restaurant, Le Papagayo, Mistral and Truluck’s. Event sponsors include title sponsor, Viejas, along with ProFlowers, Cups, Cox Communications, Dacor, and Standards of Excellence.

Guests will sample delicious and unique food items from the county’s most popular restaurants while enjoying beverages, cocktails and live entertainment. Live and silent auctions will feature a variety of specialty items, events and vacation opportunities from area companies.

San Diego’s own version of “Iron Chef” will feature celebrity judges and lively commentary provided by local food expert, Bernard Guillas, executive chef of the Marine Room; as well as event emcees Sam Zien, a.k.a “Sam the Cooking Guy” and food television host, Candice Kumai, a.k.a. “Stiletto Chef.” Event chairs are Isabel Cruz, executive chef of Isabel’s Cantina and Dee Dee Castro of Viejas.

Tickets can be purchased for $125. Call CCS for details at 858-272-5777 or visit www.ccssd.org to purchase tickets. Sponsorship opportunities also are available.

Funds raised through Chef Showdown will go to support sexual assault and domestic violence prevention and intervention programs and services.
