The United Nations Association of San Diego (UNASD) will host “Our Planet, Our Responsibility: 65 Years of the United Nations,” on Oct. 23 from 11:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park. Google Map
The charity luncheon celebrating the 65th anniversary of the United Nations aims to inspire action on critical environmental issues while honoring top community contributors during an awards ceremony. The luncheon includes a silent auction and live entertainment. All proceeds will go to UNASD’s educational programs, which benefit San Diego students, and UNICEF.
The luncheon will feature keynote speaker Reno L. Harnish III, Ambassador in Residence and Director of the Center for Environment and National Security at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Harnish, who served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs before coming to San Diego. Ambassador Harnish will speak to his broad experience in international efforts to preserve the environment.
Tickets to “Our Planet, Our Responsibility: 65 Years of the United Nations” are $50 and are available through UNASD.
