Music speaks a universal language in this heartbreaking but hopeful story of the travails of two aspiring independent musicians in Tehran looking for band members to play at a London concert. Effortlessly encompassing various genres like rock, jazz, metal and rap into its soundtrack, neatly blended in with breathtaking and beautiful camera-work of the many worlds of Tehran, it gives us a glimpse into the struggle of the youth seeking the freedom of expression.
"No One Knows About Persian Cats" was shot in secret and features extraordinary performances by real underground bands. It won the Special Jury Prize in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Bahman Ghobadi, 2009, 106 minutes, Iran
