Film At The Museum: The Duchess

In conjunction with the exhibition "Gainsborough and the Modern Woman," the San Diego Museum of Art will screen "The Duchess," based on Amanda Foreman’s biography of Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire. Gainsborough’s 1783 portrait of Cavendish will be on view inside the Museum.

Prior to the film, deputy director of curatorial affairs Dr. Julia Marciari-Alexander will present a lecture on the salacious details about the lives of the women featured in the exhibition. The screening event will take place on February 4th, 2011 at 7 p.m.
