The first seminar will be “Tree Transplanting.” Unlike American landscapers, Japanese professionals do not use wooden boxes to store their garden plant material. All trees and shrubs are kept in the ground and dug up and moved on a regular basis. In order to do this with a high rate of success, Japanese landscapers have developed a range of transplanting techniques for all sizes of plant material from very small shrubs to giant pine trees the size of a bus. This first seminar will cover in detail all aspects of transplanting and planting in a Japanese garden.
Each seminar will focus on a single subject and explore the basic technical aspects of the subject as well as its context within the historical narrative of Japan. All the seminars build on the previous class and consecutive attendance is recommended.
Discounts will be provided if registration is for more than one class. Please call (619) 232-2721 for more information.
