Join noted San Diego chefs as they draw inspiration from their favorite books to create one-of-a-kind dishes for the San Diego Council on Literacy’s second annual fundraiser event, Eat.Drink.Read. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 5:30 to 8p.m. at the NTC Promenade.
All funds support the educational efforts of the San Diego Council on Literacy and will help teach more than 450,000 San Diegans how to read.
Help raise funds and awareness for literacy while enjoying unique dishes created by San Diego’s renowned chefs, including Executive Chef Bernard Guillas and Chef de Cuisine Ron Oliver of the Marine Room are taking inspiration from their own book, "Flying Pans," by offering their Hibiscus-Infused Lemon Bars and Chocolate Kahlua Tarts.
Urban Solace Executive Chef Matt Gordon will introduce attendees to his Spiced Sweet Corn Cake and Confit of Turkey Leg with Ancho-Dried Blueberry Mole inspired by the book "Secret of the Tsil Café" by Thomas Fox Averill and Brian Malarkey of Searsucker will put his own twist on Green Eggs and Ham.
Other restaurants include Alchemy, Craft & Commerce, Flavor Del Mar, Quality Social, The Red Door, Sessions Public, Tender Greens, Café Moto and Snake Oil. Each dish will be paired with a selection of beer, wine and cocktails.
