In-depth presentations by top scholars on some of the ideas and artists represented in San Diego Museum of Art's exhibition "Modern Mexican Painting from the Andrés Blaisten Collection" will take place on November 5, 2011. There will be coffee and pastries at 9:00 AM and presentations will run from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
The Andrés Blaisten Collection is one of the premiere collections of 20th-century Mexican art. Assembled over the last 25 years, the collection normally resides at its permanent home at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco. The San Diego Museum of Art will host a selection of 80 paintings dated between 1907 and 1956 from this renowned collection.
Presenters include Dr. Edward J. Sullivan, Helen Gould Sheppard Professor of Art History at New York University, Mtro. Sealtiel Alatriste y Lozano, Cultural Outreach Coordinator at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and Dr. Sandra Benito, Deputy Director of Education at The San Diego Museum of Art.
