Viva México! The Pleasure of Your Company music series sponsored by the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library welcomes back classical guitarist Colin McAllister in the informal and intimate setting of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center on October 16th at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. McAllister, one of America's leading contemporary music guitarists, will perform an eclectic concert of Mexican themed music including 21 Grupos by Miguel Ordóñez and Citlatepetl Vertex by Matthew Burtner (inspired by Colin's 2010 ascent of the Pico de Orizaba, the highest volcano in Mexico).
He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Contemporary Music Performance from the University of California, San Diego, where he where he previously directed the classical and jazz guitar programs. Colin currently divides his time between San Diego and Mexico City. His performances take him throughout the United States, as well as Europe and Mexico.
He has presented master classes and seminars at major universities and conservatories in the U.S. and Mexico. There is no charge for the concert, although donations are appreciated. Meet the artist at a complimentary reception following the concert.
