19th Annual Spring Garden Festival

Join the Water Conservation Garden, Cuyamaca College’s Ornamental Horticulture Department, and the Heritage of the Americas Museum as we celebrate the spring season.

This is a family-friendly festival with "urban farming" theme for 2012. Learn to grow your own food and create beautiful, sustainable landscapes. Plant sales, animal encounters, live music and international food attract visitors of all ages.

The Museum will open its doors free of charge so the public can discover arts, crafts, and history from the Americas. Other activities include animal exhibits, musical guests, dancers, kids’ activities, an international food court, and a raffle chock full of exciting prizes.

Animal Encounters
Meet “Hoot and Holla”! - Meet our nesting barn owls and their brood of owlets through the eye of The Garden’s owlcam! Look up to the sky to see their condo, and pick up a souvenir owl in the Gift Shop.

Ask the Experts - Certified arborist Jose Bedoya answers your puzzling tree-care questions.

Ask the Designers - Sign up for a 20-minute landscape design consultation with a professional designer or architect for just $15 Members, $20 Non-Members. Bring photos or diagrams of your landscape for feedback. Pre-register by calling 619-660-0614 x 10.

Ask the Composters - Master Composters answer your composting questions throughout the day at the Garden’s Compost Demonstration site. View a variety of bin styles, including a wriggly worm ranch.

Ask the Veggie Gardeners - Visit our vegetable garden and let a docent answer your edible gardening questions.

Ask the Water Smart Gardeners - Garden Docents answer your water-efficient gardening questions at the water smart backyard exhibit throughout the day.

Ask the Water Agencies - Tips for saving water (and money) inside and outside the home.

Ask San Miguel Fire Department - Get tips on fire-resistant landscaping and fire prevention from the experts!
