A wonderful afternoon of performance, theater art, and enthusiasm in the beautiful open-air surroundings of Balboa Park! The annual San Diego Student Shakespeare Festival, organized by the San Diego Shakespeare Society, is now bigger and better than ever.
It's free to come and watch and everyone is invited! Hundreds of students from K-12 schools from the city and county will perform 10-minute scenes from Shakespeare on a number of outdoor stages along the pedestrian-only El Prado promenade. Schools often incorporate music and dance into their scenes and the costumes are fantastic. Truly a sight to behold and always enjoyed by spectators and proud family members!
The Festival begins with a procession from the Spreckels Organ Pavilion to the stages at 12 noon led by Queen Elizabeth I herself. The stages are in the pedestrian section of El Prado adjacent to the Casa Del Prado.
