Embark on an adventure back in time to the age of steam. Old Poway Park will host a FREE event to celebrate turn of the century innovations on Saturday, April 28th from noon to 8:00pm.
Explore the train yard of the Poway Midland Railroad or board Old Cantankerous, the 1907 Baldwin Steam Engine, as it chugs through the Wild West avoiding certain showdowns with western gunslingers. Hear the songs and stories of the rails as musicians and story tellers share their accounts of railroad life. Learn to play the banjo and other instruments in the frontier musician camp where even the inexperienced westerners can learn to carry a tune. Observe the marvels of miniature trains as they travel through villages, farms and open countryside. Meet fictional characters of an alternative Victorian Era who are consumers of fancy inventions, gadgets and armory. Experience the American Arts and Crafts movement at the Boardwalk Craft Market.
Food and other items will be available for a nominal fee. For more information, call (858) 668-4576.
