Del Mar is the place to be for beer lovers on Saturday, August 4th when track-goers can grab their favorite suds and watch the Thoroughbreds run wild at the second Beer Fest of the season.
With more than 50 different cold brews on tap, the only problem may be choosing which one to drink first! Beer fans can purchase five tastings for $17 beginning at 1 p.m.
Cold beer won’t be the only thing tingling taste buds Saturday, as the Western Regional Chili Cookoff & Salsa Contest heats things up at Del Mar. Guests to the track will receive free samples from chili and salsa cooks competing to take the People’s Choice category and potentially advance to the 2012 World Championships.
Samples start at 1 p.m., so come to the track early and put your tongue to the test.
Cake will add to the summer fun when they take the stage to show off their signature style. Trumpet-driven melodies and John McCrea’s unmistakable vocals will be on display in one of the biggest Summer Concert Series performances of 2012.
Saturday concerts are restricted to patrons 18 years or older and begin following the last race on the Seaside Stage, located at the West end of the Grandstand.
Cost: Performances are free with paid racetrack admission ($6 for Stretch Run and $10 for Clubhouse.) Admission is $20 for concert-only access following the start of the last race.
NOTE: There is no seating for the concerts – standing room only. The Seaside Stage is a non-smoking venue.
