Steven Schick conducts a concert of both dazzling color and shadowy expression, in the second concert of the 2012-2013 Season, "Angle of Repose."
We begin with Handel’s brilliant overture, “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” and conclude with Brahms’ stirring and rarely-performed “Triumphlied” for chorus and orchestra. Also on the program are Brahms’ “Nänie,” also with chorus, Schoenberg’s “Five Pieces for Orchestra,” and Luigi Dallapiccola’s “Piccola Musica Notturna.”
Free pre-concert lecture one hour prior to each performance.
