Join us for the 23nd Annual San Diego Jewish Film Festival on December 11th starting at 7pm. The Film, "Glickman – A Sports Legend" will be screened followed by a post-film discussion with Special Guest Filmmaker James L. Freedman.
The 23nd Annual San Diego Jewish Film Festival presents, "Glickman," the inspirational story of an athlete legend who overcame bigotry, teamed with Jesse Owens, and revolutionized modern basketball imagery in the media. Including a post-film discussion and Q&A with special guest filmmaker James L. Freedman. One night only!
About the Film:
New Yorkers depended on Bronx native, Marty Glickman, the voice of the Knicks and Giants, to bring them as close to the game as if they were there in person. He coined the term ‘swish’ and made ‘top of the circle’, ‘the lane’ and ‘baseline’ part of the basketball lexicon. Glickman was an inspiration to millions and made the Jewish community of New York proud when he was chosen as a member of the U.S. track and field team alongside Jesse Owens for the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. He was dropped at the last minute, in what seemed a blatant move to placate the anti-Semitic hosts.
Single tickets are $13.75. (Check for student/faculty discounts) For tickets or information call 858-362-1348 or visit
