Why do we celebrate Hanukkah as a time of a great miracle - and not as the anniversary of a military victory? Why do Christians celebrate Christmas as Jesus' birthday, when it is not even mentioned in the New Testament as such? Why do both Jews and Christians make such a big deal of their respective mid-winter holidays?
