During the three decades before World War II, Western collectors were fascinated with Asian art, and Asian artists were engaging western modernism. The Museum Curator of Asian Art, Sonya Quintanilla, Ph.D., shows how the give-and-take between Asia and the West is expressed in the art on display in the Museum’s two newly opened special exhibitions of ancient Chinese sculptures from western collections and modern Japanese textiles.
From 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Museum Rotunda
