The San Diego Vintage Dance Society hosts its 8th annual traditional 19th century formal winter ball on January 28, 2012, celebrating the music and dances of the Strauss family and their contemporaries, in the magnificent 12,000+ sq. ft. Balboa Park Club ballroom.
San Diego's Grand Pacific Waltz Orchestra will provide live authentic period music for Viennese Waltzes, Polkas, Schottisches, Quadrilles, and more, while the eminent Ms. Joan Walton will serve as Dance Mistress for the evening. She'll also conduct a "Survival Waltz" workshop at the venue, noon-2pm on the day of the ball.
Formal evening wear required (mid- to late-19th century encouraged, but optional). Light refreshments will be included. Registration details and forms can be found here. Doors open at 6:45 pm; music starts at 7 pm.
