FanFaire Foundation presents young prize-winning pianists, 16-year old Danli Liang and 14-year old Adrian Liu in a piano recital at the La Jolla / Riford Branch Library on Sunday July 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. The young artists will perform works for solo piano by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, and Mendelssohn.

Both active members of FanFaire Foundation’s popular “KIDS Playing For KIDS’ Program", they were first and second place winners respectively in the 2011 San Diego Symphony Young Artists Competition and performed as soloists with the orchestra in its "Best and Brightest" concert at Copley Symphony Hall last spring.

Formerly home-schooled, Adrian is now an 8th grader at the Dehesa Charter School. He not only plays solo piano but is also currently the pianist for a chamber music ensemble. A student of the violin as well, he is fast growing his list of competition triumphs. Aside from winning second place in the SD Symphony Young Artists Competition, he has also won prizes in the following competitions: Bach Festival (Regional Finalist 2007, 2008, and 2010); Sonata Festival (2007:1st place,2008: 2nd place, finalist: 2009, 2010); H.B. Goodlin Scholarship Competition (2010:honorable mention); MTAC Concerto Competition (2011:1st place, Division II).

As the recipient of a Advocates for Classical Music Scholarship, Adrian performed at La Jolla’s Athenaeum Music & Arts Museum and was invited to play two more solo concerts at the Athenaeum and at the Lyceum Theater in downtown San Diego. Besides music, Adrian enjoys who enjoys math, literature, and recreational soccer.

The event begins with piano and cello prelude performances by four other talented prize-winning members of of the "KIDS Playing For KIDS" program who will play works by Berkovich, Paganini, and Chopin.

There can be no question but that these young artists are among San Diego’s brightest young stars-in-the-making, certain to give their audience at this upcoming event a most enjoyable and enriching musical experience.
