‘Armies of scummy little creeps’ emerge and multiply in MR. DVICE most recent work at Thumbprint Gallery. The exhibition titled, "No Rules Among Goons" is an insight into the depths of MR. DVICE’s imagination and artistic madness, opening March 10, 2012.
In the studio, a place free from rules, the artist feels liberated. Here he can create and explore fantasy worlds and invent any character he desires, no questions asked. His recent works present a series of what the artist calls ‘goons.’ These figures are ‘creatures of the night,’ gremlins from the artists mind and ‘they are not to be trusted.’
MR. DVICE draws his inspiration from his life. The artist’s experiences with hallucinogens and the underground rave culture of the 90s most definitely had a huge effect on him as an artist and a person. His work also shows influence from urban and pop culture and artists such as Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Rick Griffin and Joint Show 5.
MR. DVICE’s work will be on show as the featured artist at Thumbprint Gallery, alongside a group show titled "Microcosm." The opening begins at 5pm and runs until 10pm on March 10, 2012. The exhibition is on show at Thumbprint Gallery until April 1, 2012.
Thumbprint Gallery is located at 920 Kline Street 104, La Jolla, San Diego. There is no dress code and no cover. All ages are welcome. Google Maps
