Join instructor Sharon K Novak and create a visual metaphor for life, an autobiographical statement or shrine.
Sand and paint a flat piece of wood as a base. Cut images and shapes out of thin-gauge copper or brass, add detail, texture, form and color as you learn to hammer, stamp, emboss, bend, fold, crunch, form, forge and fringe using various tools and metalsmithing techniques. Cold-connect metal shapes and add linear movement with wires that you twist, coil, spiral, bend and sew.
Add collage materials and interesting elements recycled from daily life or found in nature to your base with glue, copper and brass wires and colorful tacks and nails. All tools and materials are provided and you may also bring inspirational bits and pieces from home.
