Above: Book cover of Alan Paton's "Cry, The Beloved Country".
Alan Paton's first novel, "Cry, the Beloved Country", is a spell-binding work of political literature about a Black Anglican pastor's search for his son. Paton, one of South Africa's most well-known authors, channels his anger and frustration at the Dutch persecution of his country's native people in this story which was originally published in 1948.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the book discussion and to suggest titles we might read for November. We meet regularly the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.
