Above: Graphic cover for the book "Armando and the Blue Tarp School," by authors Edith Fine and Judith Josephson.
The book tells the true story of a young boy and his friends who live near a trash heap in Tijuana, and a man who creates a school for them on a blue tarp. The book introduces readers to the unfamiliar world right across the border, and reminds of the true value of education. It has been chosen as the children’s companion book to "Into the Beautiful North," a 2012 One Book, One San Diego selection.
The authors will present an engaging, kid-friendly reading and talk about the book, and be available for signings afterward.
Tickets: FREE (admission to museum is also free for event attendees who RSVP before October 20th)
Light refreshments will be provided and copies of the book will be available for sale on-site.
