The artist line-up and venues for the second annual Adams Avenue Unplugged is set and will feature 135 artists performing in 25 restaurants, bars, coffeehouses, and community stages along a two-mile stretch of Adams Avenue.
This incomparable FREE music festival, the largest in California, will take place on Saturday, April 27, 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and Sunday, April 28, 12-noon to 8:00 pm. The event is open to the public.
From Normal Heights to Kensington, Adams Avenue Unplugged will feature 180 live performances of sensational music.
This year’s headliners include: San Diego roots band Los Alacranes with Special Guests Louie Perez and David Hidalgo (Grammy Award winners and founders of Los Lobos and the Latin Playboys); Country music virtuosos Geoff Muldaur and Jim Kweskin, founders of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band; Reilly & Friends will showcase Oscar nominated actor and musician John C. Reilly, who will be joined by Tom Brosseau, Willie Watson and Dan Bern; the Americana band Haunted Windchimes comprising of five young troubadours from Colorado; and the Brooklyn-based gospel inspired band Spirit Family Reunion. In addition to the headliners, an array of San Diego’s top musicians will also perform, including Cindy Lee Berryhill, Jeff Berkley, Tomcat Courtney, Joey Harris, Robin Henkel, The Lovebirds, Joe Marillo, Gregory Page, Sara Petite, Podunk Nowhere, and Lisa Sanders. Attendees to Adams Avenue Unplugged will enjoy performances in more intimate and club-like settings. Many performers will play multiple sets to allow attendees to catch their favorite artists and enjoy the neighborhoods many distinctive shops along the Adams Avenue business corridor.
Participating festival venues include the Air Conditioned Lounge, Blind Lady Ale House, De Mille’s, El Zarape, Heights Tavern, , Ken Club, Lestat’s, Ould Sod, Polite Provisions, Ponce’s Mexican Restaurant, and Rosie O’Grady’s. In addition, Adams Park, Kensington Park, the Mansfield Church Sanctuary, and 30th Street at Adams Avenue will serve as community stages.
Since street parking is limited, organizers will provide free trolley service along Adams Avenue during the event, as well as offering a bike valet. In addition, mass transit bus service (MTS #2 & 11) will also be available since Adams Avenue will be open to traffic during the event. We encourage Adams Avenue Unplugged attendees to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
