Sometimes words cannot express the concept clearly enough and a visual image is needed. Artists use their work to explain or express an idea that a few words could not convey. The upcoming art show, “Where Words Fail” at Thumbprint Gallery on August 10 will feature three artists, David Gane Feucht, Richard Salcido, and Jeffrey Locke, whose works will be worth more than a few words.
Richard Salcido is a prolific San Diego artist who likes to let his art speak for itself. He has been influenced by comics, magazine advertisements and street graffiti he has seen. He received his BFA from Laguna College of Art and Design, but he is mostly self-taught. His recent series of portraits of women he has met are not actually their real faces, but a representation of their inner emotions. He is dedicated to his art studio, and he can usually produce an artwork in a day because of his strong commitment to art.
Jeffrey Locke is a SoCal artist with strong emotional artworks. Colorful and dreamlike backgrounds add to the surreal settings of his subjects. His works combine abstract spaces with naturalistic faces. He uses many different mediums, including watercolors, pen ink and oil paints to produce his art.
Artist David Gane Feucht will also be exhibiting.
"Where Words Fail" will be open to visitors from August 10 - September 5. The reception will be held Saturday, August 10 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Complimentary drinks will be served.
