Imagine what life would be like if you could no longer do the things you used to do well? Getting the mail and taking the garbage out had become effortful, grocery shopping a burden, and the leisure activities you enjoyed with the family you can no longer enjoy on your own.
You may have adult children who have moved away to find work and have started their own families; you are left with an empty nest. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone come in a few hours each month to keep you company and help you maintain your independence? What if you could be this person for an older adult?
Jewish Family Service’s Aging and Wellness Division is proud to announce a new program --- the Enhanced Companion Program. This program matches volunteers or “Enhanced Companions” with older adults to provide assistance through companionship, transportation, light housekeeping, simple meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry help, and errands. The Enhanced Companion Program addresses the needs of older adults to age in place and live a vibrant and engaged life.
