The Sea of Galilee is not a sea, but a slightly brackish fresh-water lake in Israel, called Lake Kinneret today. In 1986, a remarkable discovery was made by two Jewish residents of Kibbutz Ginosar, a collective Israeli farm community. That discovery was a 2,000 year-old boat.

Professor Jerome Hall authored the final report on the discovery of this boat and will be coming to talk about this ancient vessel at our center. Please join us for a fascinating afternoon lecture.

Dr. Hall is a professor at USD. His current research projects include the excavation of a 17th-century northern European merchant shipwreck off the north coast of the Dominican Republic, as well as the documentation and publication of a 1st-century boat recovered from the Sea of Galilee.
