A New Musical about Healing to benefit T.A.C.O, a Place of Healing for Any and All Who Come.
The musical "The Sugar Hill Sisters" is the story of Jeannette and Rena, two young African-American women growing up on Harlem’s Sugar Hill in a volatile household. As the story unfolds, there is opportunity to wonder about the power of forgiveness. The sisters perform as a singing duo at Stuart Rose’s Downtown Club, but cannot escape their alcoholic father’s rage. Jeannette escapes to the South to become a civil rights worker and Rena starts a relationship with a married Congressman. When Rena becomes very ill, she sends for her sister, hoping they can reconcile before it’s too late.
Donations for this staged reading of “The Sugar Hill Sisters” by Award winning playwright Bil Wright and composer Dionne McClain-Freeney will benefit T.A.C.O. Directed by Lambs Players Thearte's Kerry Meads.
