San Diego Fringe Festival: 'A Mess Of Things'

The San Diego Fringe Festival presents artists from across the United States and around the world participate alongside home-grown talent in street performing, cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, poetry, spoken word, theatre, puppetry, music, visual art, design, and anything else. The festival will be July 1-7, 2013.

A fusion of radio documentary and experimental music theater, "A Mess of Things" blends audio interviews together with words, songs, videos and live music into a dense exploration of memory, hoarding and the difficulties of divesting. Rich with sonic detail and layered with vivid images and voices, the piece moves fluidly between intimate storytelling (think This American Life) and chaotic texture.

The creation of San Diego-based composer/performer Adam Tinkle, “A Mess of Things” won Best of Fringe in Hollywood in 2011 with its philosophical, funny, and ultimately tragic portrait of an eccentric inventor as he tries to archive the remnants of a life's work now sitting in storage units.
