At Suzie’s Summer Camps kids and teenagers experience the wonders of farming. Campers become part of our farm-ily as they get their hands in the dirt, meet our chickens and eat produce right from the gardens they tend. Campers walk away from camp with a better understanding of how food is grown, increased confidence in themselves as growers, leaders and creators, and many new friends as we build community together.
Our summer camp is programmed to have an overarching thematic for each session. These themes are further separated into two age groups to provide for differences in learning, socialization, and content among children’s ages. We invite to teenagers as Junior Apprentices to attend either session to have a valued learning and mentoring experience.
Kick off the summer with Farm 101 week at Suzie’s Farm Camp! Campers will get their hands dirty as they explore the ins and outs of a vegetable farm – we’ll examine the parts of a working farm from planting seeds to bringing in the harvest. Become an honorary farmer for the week and care for our camp gardens and chickens. Through interactive crafts, building projects, games, and exploration campers will discover how food scraps turn into rich soil, how seeds become plants, how an egg becomes a chicken, and how to grow delicious produce!

About the Junior Apprentice Program
As a Junior Apprentice, high school students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by assisting the Suzie’s Farm camp counselors with morning camp activities for the younger campers. Jr. Apprentices spend the afternoon deepening their understanding of farming through hands-on projects related to the camp theme for the week. Projects range from building solar ovens to tending plants to handling chickens.
