Spend the Saturday before Mother’s Day, Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, at San Diego Botanic Garden’s famous Chocolate Festival. Enjoy dozens of delectable chocolate tastings, demonstrations, a chocolate fountain, and more. This family-friendly event also features lots of children’s activities and a variety of Mother’s Day gifts. “Tasting” tickets will be sold on site.
Cost: Free with admission or membership, plus tasting tickets as desired.
Demonstrations in the Walled Garden: 1 ticket (or $1) per demonstration
11:00 am – 12:00 noon "Chocolate Almond Tart" (no gluten, no flour)
Chocolate lovers rejoice! Chef Elizabeth will share her recipe for this much coveted flourless tart made with semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolates. Has well balanced flavors, not too sweet, but very chocolaty.
12:30 - 1:30 pm "Intro to Cake Pops"
Heather will demonstrate how to master cake pops with tips and tricks of the trade. If you ever wanted to learn the original method or experienced the proverbial “first time cake pop disaster,” this demo is for you!
2:00 - 3:00 pm "Desserts on the Grill"
From Grilled Pound Cake with Chocolate Espresso Sauce to Bananas Foster, learn to make easy and delicious summer desserts without ever turning on your oven.
