Dia De Los Muertos Festival

More than 3,000 people will come together at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido on November 1, 2013 to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican celebration focused on honoring deceased loved ones and ancestors. This free event invites the community to enjoy live music, children’s art activities, food vendors and traditional Mexican fare.

Guests are encouraged to participate by creating altars in designated squares outside of the center’s museum. Candles will be provided, but participants must bring pictures, mementos, etc.

In addition to these activities, a performance by the Ballet Folklorico Tierra Caliente (BFTC) will take place in the Concert Hall at 7:00pm. This performance titled, “Mexico, Vive su Folklor”, will be an artistic overview of the history of Mexico on stage.

The BFTC will be performing an exciting dance repertoire incorporating music, costumes, and choreographs in interpretation of Mexican regional dances. Tickets are required for entrance to this performance and can be purchased online for $15.00.

For more information about the free festival or to purchase tickets to the dance performance, please visit or call (800) 988-4253.
