Conductor Steven Schick and La Jolla Symphony & Chorus open the 2013-2014 season with music from four centuries. New York’s hippest classical ensemble, ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble) joins us in a program that ranges from Mozart’s poised “Sinfonia Concertante for Winds” through Edgard Varèse’s revolutionary work for solo flute “Density 21.5,” featuring ICE soloist Claire Chase, and on to Dai Fujikura’s “Mina” that was commissioned and premiered by the Seattle Symphony with ICE last year.
