Join us for an interactive program for kids about Thanksgiving in Colonial Times, including involvement of the local Native Americans, on November 8, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Alpine Library.

This program is inspired by "Jingle Dancer," by Cynthia Leitich Smith, the children’s accompaniment to the 2013 One Book, One San Diego selection "Caleb’s Crossing" by Geraldine Brooks.

About the Book:
Jenna, a contemporary Muscogee (Creek) girl in Oklahoma, wants to honor a family tradition by jingle dancing at the next powwow. But where will she find enough jingles for her dress? An unusual, warm family story, beautifully evoked in Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu's watercolor art.

Location: Alpine Library: 2130 Arnold Way Alpine, CA 91901. Google Map

About One Book, One San Diego:
One Book, One San Diego is San Diego's community reading program put on in partnership by KPBS and the San Diego Public Library and the San Diego County Library.
