The technical study, cleaning, and restoration of paintings - most of which is undertaken with the Balboa Art Conservation Center - is one element of Art Historian John Marciari's work on a catalogue of the Museum's Italian, Spanish, and French paintings before 1850.
This lecture will examine some of the conservation work undertaken in recent years, and outline a number of the discoveries and decisions made during the treatments.
This is the third lecture of the 2014 Friday Morning Lecture & Tour Series. Happening the third Friday of each month, each lecture focuses on works on view and is followed by a docent-led tour.
