UCSD Lecture: Human Trafficking In San Diego's Border Area

Sheldon Zhang, professor of sociology at San Diego State University, led a team which identified and interviewed more than 800 undocumented migrant laborers working in various occupations.

Funded by the U.S Department of Justice, the study produced the first scientifically grounded measure of human trafficking in the nation. Lars Almquist is a member of a team now pursuing a three-year study of gang involvement in sex trafficking in the local border region.

Both speakers will address the human trafficking problem on Saturday, October 19th at 1:30 p.m. in Room 111A, Chancellor's Complex, at UCSD.

The event is sponsored by the San Diego Independent Scholars and is free and open to the public. For further information, visit www.sdscholars.org.
