Television stars Barbara Eden (“I Dream of Genie”) and Hal Linden (“Barney Miller”) star in a modern American Classic: Boy meets girl. Girl writes to boy. Girl and boy correspond throughout their lives.
A.R. Gurney’s beloved play, "Love Letters," is about two people who grow up and in love with each other's writing, is as much a celebration of the power of the written word as it is to love itself.
Andy and Melissa first “meet” when Melissa writes to invite Andy to her birthday party. Their correspondence continues, growing longer and more familiar as they seek friendship in their respective boarding schools. They sympathize (and amiably bicker) throughout marriages, children, divorces, love affairs and careers that take them down different paths.
Poetic, elegant, and profoundly touching, Love Letters shows that, despite how things seem, what divides us is rarely as powerful as what connects us, and love comes when you least expect it.
