Recent advances in information technology have opened an exciting new frontier. A convergence is taking place between medicine and wireless technology, making it possible to change the way medicine and healthcare delivery are managed. Focusing on the coming digital revolution in the health industry, this module introduces how disruptive innovations work, and why the digital revolution is going to transform medicine.
As illustrated by many other industries, digital technologies create opportunities for new innovations and transform already established practices. This module will look at wireless health solutions that can enable physicians, caregivers and patients to cost-effectively prevent, diagnose and monitor health conditions; manage treatment; and enable timely communication and intervention. We will also look into adoption barriers, as well as marketing strategies. These will be illustrated through lectures, case studies, multimedia and live debates on exciting startups as well as the larger players.
