Poet Dana Goia Comes To SDSU

Dana Goia, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning poet, will visit San Diego State as part of the Hugh C. Hyde Living Writers Series on October 31st, 2013.

In honor of Halloween, Goia will also read his poetry written for the famous silent film, "Nosferatu." Gioia’s interpretation is a poetic version of the Dracula story in the form of an opera libretto.

When he began the project, he “resolved to write poetry that would be equally interesting on the page and on the stage, though perhaps in different ways.” Gioia’s libretto retells the Dracula story from the perspective of a young woman in a tragedy she cannot control.
Goia will also present poems from his newest collection, "Pity the Beautiful," including the hybrid ghost/love story, “Haunted.”

Location: San Diego State University, 5500 Campanile Dr San Diego, CA 92182 Google Map
